A scare

So, the night before last night I had an Xbox 360 scare. In the middle of Coop Halo 3 it shut off on me. The system was rather hot, so I guessed it overheated and shutdown to save itself from a meltdown. So, I let it sit over night. In the morning it still would not start even though it had cooled down. I looked up some possible problems online, and most of them pointed to the power source. So, when I got home yesterday I looked at it, and in the matter of seconds the system was up and running again.

So, then I finished off my first completion of Mass Effect. I'm looking forward to trying it differently, and stuff. Little bit upset that I didn't get any ally achievements, what the hell is up with that. I rarely changed my team members.

Anyway. Depending on how things go Friday, I might be going up to Norway Mountain for Ski patrol. If I can't find the time this year, I'm done. Why keep paying fees when I can hardly make it due to weather or conflicts?

A.F.K Fansubbers are a little slow this week... if they are releasing en episode of Clannad this week... if not, I'm sad.

Saw a stupid segment on Fox News mentioning Sex in Video Games, citing Mass Effect. It was horrible. EA, who own Bioware, sent Fox News a letter to the news director and the producer of the segment asking for them to apologize for outright lies about the game. It was horrible to watch. Everyone of them admitted to knowing nothing about the game, but going on and on about what is supposedly in the game. While, the one guy who did play it and know of its contents was allowed seconds to give his side, then was shoved out of the way for the rest of the people to bad mouth the game.

Here is the segment:

But Joe! What about the children?! What about the CHILDREN?! My god, children are letting themselves into houses now! Soon they'll be operating heavy machinery or even day trading! What happened to the old days of ball in a cup? I thought that was risque as is, a BALL that goes INTO a CUP, REPEATEDLY! If you ask me, I like the cut of that one woman's jib. I don't want to feel old when I remember the original atari games so we should mandate all graphics be returned to 4-bit quality. Seriously, my kids made me feel bad about only getting through 6 of the levels in 'Shadow of the Colossus'. That just shouldn't happen.

Well, we all can sleep better knowing that there is more "sex" in one night of prime time TV that anyone can watch (unless the V-chip is activated in the tv -hahahahahahahahahahaha, right), than the 2 minutes of "sex" that takes a lot longer to get to in Mass Effect.

Make the kids work for their psudo-not-really-close-to-anything-CG-sex

I did enjoy that the clip took a moment to go back on that one idiotic comment.

And someone is surprised it didn't get an Adults Only Rating? Like you said Joe.. take a look at prime time TV lady! There's a lot more out there that's a lot worse than what's in the game.

Sadly it is hard to change the minds of the uninformed until you force knowledge down their throats. At least the reporter said she was trying to research it enough and didn't see anything too bad.

As they also said, it comes down to the parents stepping up to the plate of doing their job as parents. There's ratings in place, which I think are more strict that the movie industry's rating system. I think game retailers are doing a decent job of keeping bad games out of the hands of kids.

Even tho crazy-shrink thinks that only adolescents play these games, Sista Girl admits that adults play these games a lot too. So if you are a parent and don't want your kid playing this kind of stuff, take action yourself to ensure it stays out of their hands.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to work on designing my own game: Naked Guy and Nude Girl in the Adventures of Trampoline-Land.
